Furr's Parking Lot
I was sitting at home last night watching T.V. and I flipped it to GAC and this song was playing. Natasha had told me about it but I still hadn't heard it till then. It's Chris Cagle's new one "Walmart Parking Lot". Oh my gosh! For the one's that grew up in Andrews this song could have the title "Furr's Parking Lot" and it would totally be describing us. This is the chorus:
So every weekend night we would all go down , there were freak sand hippies in my high school , football players all tryin to be cool , and everyboy scramblin' to hide their beer , when the cops drove by 'til the coast was clear , kids fallin in and out a' love , On the hoods 'a Chevy's, in the beds 'a trucks,we were stumblin' our way through life ' til our senior year, but man, we sure did learn a lot , In that Wal-Mart parking lot
As I was watching the video all sorts of memories started coming back from our days in the Furr's parking lot. That's where Johnny gave me the infamous nick name that to this day there are a few people that still call me that and it's ok because it was given to me by one of my best friends and only those that are allowed to call me that feel privaleged because I don't let just anyone call me Big Dog. When the movie theater had closed and they left there sign up at the parking lot Robbie and I used to write our names w/ the letters lol. It would be up for a few weeks for everyone to drive by and see lol. It was so much fun just sitting up there hanging out w/ everyone and no cares in the world. Those were some great times. Thanks for all the memories Furrs! lol

Christy in the early 70's gas was 25 cents gallon, can you even imagine? Cruising was very in and between the cars on the street and in the lots it was between 1 and 2 hundred, except when there was a party on some lease in the Oil Patch. That was also the "Streaking Period". I won't go into details but you should have been there it was something! Thanks for sparking some fond memories.
Love, Daddy
